Note: Only Administrators or non-admin users (including Delegated Administrators) with Administration application privileges can view this page and its information. The User Group Overview page shows all the information for the user group selected in the View and remove user groups page. The modules on this page show the current configuration and assignments for the user group and provide links for modifying those assignments.
The middle of this page shows information for the user group, including a description and notes, and whether or not assets assigned to the associated user group objects (that is, asset groups, regions, organizations, or locations) will be made available to users in this user group (security assignments). If no objects are selected (enabled) or if the selected objects do not have any assigned assets, then it may be that this is a Privileges-based user group. The Privileges module lists some of the privileges assigned to this group. NO assets are available to the users assigned to this user group by means of membership in this user group. You must assign the users to an asset-security-based user group. See Security overview for Axeda® Connected Product Management Applications for complete information.
In addition, you can select to modify these properties, or delete the user group.
Jump to - If you don't see the information you need for the user group in this page, use the Jump to list to display more information for the user group. For example, click view asset group assignments to see a list of all asset groups assigned to this asset. The options in this list vary based on user privileges. The page shown for a Jump to selection contains the same information as that shown for the View all or Edit links in this page; for the "view asset group assignments" example above, that would be the View all link from the Asset groups module.
o Privileges - For a Privileges-based user group, this module shows some of the privileges assigned to this user group. To copy privileges assigned to another user group to this user group, click Copy From. To change user group privileges, click Edit; to view all assigned and unassigned privileges, click View All.
o Users - This module shows some of the users assigned to this user group. To modify the list of users, click Edit; to view all assigned users, click View All.
o User Groups - Axeda strongly recommends that you do NOT nest user groups. This module should be empty. To remove user groups, click Edit; to view all assigned user groups.
o Asset Groups - For an asset-security-based user group, this module shows the asset groups assigned to this user group. To modify the list of assigned asset groups, click Edit; to view all assigned asset groups, click View All. If you are editing a user group that is stored in a Delegated Administration directory service, then the Asset Groups available are only those that exist in the Delegated Admin Unit. You cannot remove the association between the User Group created for a Delegated Admin Unit and the Asset Group selected as its "root" Asset Group.
o Regions - regions assigned to this user group. To modify the list of assigned regions, click Edit; to view all assigned regions, click View All. Regions are secure, such that users see only those regions to which they have privileges (that are associated with their user groups).
o Organizations - organizations assigned to this user group. To modify the list of assigned organizations, click Edit; to view all assigned and unassigned organizations, click View All. Organizations are secure, so that users cannot see any organizations that are not associated with the user groups to which they belong.
o Locations - locations assigned to this user group based on organizations assigned to this user group. To change assigned locations, click Edit; to view all assigned locations, click View All. Locations are secure, so that users cannot see any locations that are not associated with the user groups to which they belong.
Note: Only users with
access to organizations can define locations for those organizations.
If a user does not have access to an organization, the Locations module
will not show any locations for assignment. The information shown
in the Locations module is based on the selected organizations; this
module dependency is true only for the Locations module.
o Data Item Groups - data item groups assigned to this user group. To modify the list of assigned data item groups, click Edit; to view all assigned data item groups, click View All.
Click the links shown in the user group overview modules to view or edit that information for the user group.
You can view or change the privileges, users, user groups, asset groups, regions, organizations, locations, and data item groups; modify the notes, description and asset security for the user group; delete the user group.
