Note: This action applies to all assets of the model selected in the Select model for action page.
Package actions (Software management actions) enable the Axeda® Platform to deploy packages to assets. The Platform ensures that the assets meet any conditions (called Dependencies) for deployment configured in the package. When the Axeda® Agents running on the assets contact the Platform again, the package is deployed (as long as the times of the Platform and the assets are synchronized). The Agents evaluate any additional conditions in the package and then run the applications and/or instructions in the package.
You create the packages separately, in the Software Management application (New | Package page). Only packages to which you have privileges (based on your user group) are available for selection in this page. Also, packages are configured for specific models, so only those packages configured for the selected model are shown.
Note: If you want to schedule a package for deployment at a particular time or you want to limit the deployment to particular assets for a model, you can deploy packages using the Software Management application (see Deploying a Package).
1. Select the package for this action. A package is required for this action. If you do not see a package you want, you may need to first create that package in the Software Management application, New | Package page, and make sure it is assigned to the correct model.
2. When you are finished, click Next to select the user groups with edit permissions for this action. If you click Finish, the action confirmation page appears. If you click Cancel and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard is removed.
o In the Axeda® Service application, Asset dashboard Rules module, you can view and enable or disable the rules configured for a specific asset.
o The Service application, Asset dashboard Audit log module, shows a log of activity for the selected asset, including registration, actions run, alarms acknowledged, statuses, usage value setting, and more. Also, if you have privileges to the Administration application, you can search the Audit log for asset, Platform, and user activity.
o The Software Management application, Package Deployment Manager page, displays a list of package deployments. Use this page to view more detailed information for Package Action deployment to the assets.
