Use the pages in the Action wizard to create actions or edit existing ones. This wizard prompts you for the information required to create an action. For existing actions, the wizard shows the existing information and properties for that action and permits you to make changes as needed.
Note: This topic explains the only style of actions available prior to release 6.0 of Axeda® Platform. For information about the new actions functionality, refer to Expression Rule definition, State Rule definition, and Actions (for Expression Rules) definiton. Also, to execute this style of actions from Expression Rules, see the ExecuteAction() Action topic.
The Action wizard presents the following pages:
o Create or Edit action - specify action name, description, and type ("category"). You cannot change the name or type once the action has been created. Note that only actions defined in the category "Asset update actions" or "Software management actions" will display for selection in the Asset dashboard (Actions module) for this asset or the Service home page (Actions link).
o Models for action - applies to Request Data Item, Set Data Item, Alarm, Data Entry, and Collect Data actions only - shows the models to which this action will be available.
o Select model for action - applies to Run Script and Deploy Package actions only - shows the model to which this action will be available
o Configure the operation for this action - the page shown depends on the type of action you are configuring.
o User groups that handle edit permissions for action - shows user groups with permission to edit the action.
o User groups that handle execute permissions for action - shows user groups with permission to execute this action (through the Axeda® Service application) and permission to select this action when configuring rules.
o Confirm changes to action - view a summary of the action definition before saving changes.
Warning! When moving backward and forward through the wizard, use the wizard's Back and Next buttons. Do NOT use your browser's back and forward tools.
From this page you can add a new action or make changes to an existing action. Click the title of a procedure to display it; click the title again to hide the procedure:

Click Finish if you have completed your changes to this action. If you click Cancel and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard is discarded.
