View and manage models

The View and manage models page displays the models located in the Platform for the search criteria specified, and only those models to which you have privileges.

o Model - This column shows the name of the model; If you have privileges to modify models, the name is a link to the Model wizard, where you can change the model configuration. If you have privileges to view but not to modify models, the name takes you to the Review model configuration page.

o Model Type - This column shows the type selected for the model when it was added to the Platform: Standalone, Managed (an asset is managed by an Axeda Gateway), or Gateway.

o Model Associations -- This column contains the Manage link, which takes you to the Configure Model Associations page, where you can manage associations for the selected model. For background information on associations, refer to Associating assets with one another.

o Description -- This column displays text that provides additional information about the model, entered by a Platform administrator.

o Alarm Actions -- This column contains links that allow you to change the initial disposition of ALL alarms for the model and to navigate to the View and manage alarm definitions page, where you can change the initial disposition for individual alarms for the model. You must have the appropriate privileges for these links to be available.
The initial disposition of an alarm refers to how the alarm is handled when it is first detected by the Axeda® Platform. As long as you have the appropriate privileges, you can use the actions in this column to change the current disposition of ALL alarms for the related model. To manage the disposition of alarms for a model individually, click the Manage link for the model.

The other actions shown in the Alarm Actions column allow you to change the initial disposition of future alarms (Enable, Disable, Suppress, Unsuppress). In addition, based on the actions shown, you can determine the current disposition setting for ALL alarm definitions for a model. To view a table that explains the actions and the dispositions, click to show/hide the table.

If the actions are	Then
Disable All \| Suppress All	All alarms for the model are currently Enabled and Unsuppressed, which means that new instances of this alarm are processed normally - their state is set to "Started", they are stored in the Platform, and they are available for evaluation by Expression Rules.
Enable All \| Suppress All	All new instances of alarms for this model are currently disabled, which means that the Platform will discard them immediately upon receipt. These alarm instances are not stored in the Platform nor are they visible in the Axeda® Service application. Since they never enter the Platform, rules that are configured to run when these alarms are detected do not run.
Disable All \| Unsuppress All	All new instances of alarms for this model are set to "Suppressed" upon receipt, and they are visible only in the Historical Alarms page. These alarm instances do not appear in the Alarms module on the Asset dashboards nor do they appear in the Current Alarms page. Like Disabled alarms, Suppressed alarms are not available for evaluation in Expression Rules.

o UI Configuration -- This column provides a link to set preferences for the display of the Asset dashboards of all assets of the related model (Preferences) and a link to the page where you can set up applications to use for remote sessions with assets of this model (Remote Sessions).

Notes:
Do NOT use the link in the Remote Sessions column to configure connection types for the TotalAccess Server and the Axeda® IDM Agents. Instead, select TotalAccess Connection Type from the New menu of the Axeda® Configuration application. To view currently configured Connection Types, select TotalAccess Connection Types from the View menu.

If you see the TotalAccess Server. model in the list, it means that the property that makes TotalAccess pages visible in the Axeda Applications is enabled. This model is created automatically when this property is enabled.

Procedures from this page

From this page, you can select to filter the list of models based on search criteria, view more information for a model, remove models, change the initial disposition of all alarms for a model, access the page for managing alarm definitions individually for a model, and configure user interface and remote interface preferences for a model. Click the title of a procedure to display it; click the title again to hide the procedure:

To filter the list of models

1. Type the values by which you want to search the Platform, as follows:

a. In the box above the Model column, type all or part of the name of the model(s) you want to find.

b. In the box above the Model Type column, select the type of model for the asset(s) you want to find (gateway, managed, standalone, tracking asset).

c. In the box above the Description column, type all or part of the description of the model(s) you want to find.

If you leave the filter values blank, all assets to which you have privileges are returned. If you specify one value, all assets found will contain that value.

2. Click Filter.

The Platform finds all defined models that contain the search value(s) defined and shows only those models in this table.

To narrow your search further:

1. With the filter boxes still displayed, click Advanced.

2. To select the advanced search criteria, type all or part of the manufacturer name (Organization) for the model(s) you want to find.

3. Click Filter.

To view more information for a model

Click the model name or number shown in the table.

The Platform locates the stored information for the model number selected and shows the results in the Model wizard pages. You can add or change the information shown in the displayed wizard.

To remove models

1. In the right-hand column of check boxes, click the check box for each model that you want to remove.

2. Click Remove Models.

3. When prompted, click OK to confirm the deletion.

Notes: When you remove a model, all data items and data item actions for that model are removed from the Platform. The removed data item actions no longer appear in the Configure actions page (View menu - Actions).

When you remove a model, all properties for that model are removed from the Platform and will no longer be available for selection when creating dynamic group definitions. Any asset groups created based on those properties will NOT be removed. They will remain in the Platform until they are deleted manually from the View and manage asset groups page of the Administration application.

To change the initial disposition of all alarm definitions for a model

Important! Any action taken on alarm definitions for a model affects FUTURE instances of the alarms; it does NOT affect current or historical instances of the alarms.

By default the initial disposition of an alarm instance received by the Platform is to perform normal processing; the initial state for normal processing is called Started (enabled, unsuppressed). If you need to suspend the processing of all alarms for all assets of a model but still want a record of them, you can suppress alarms. If you do not want the alarms retained in the Platform at all, you can disable them. When you are ready to resume normal operations, you can enable or unsuppress alarms. You can take the following actions:

§ If alarms for a model are all enabled and unsuppressed; you can take either of the following actions in the Alarm Actions column for the model:

> Click the Disable All link to disable all future instances of all alarms for the model.

> Click the Suppress All link to suppress all future instances of all alarms for the model.

§ If all alarms are currently disabled, you can take either of the following actions in the Alarm Actions column for the model:

> Click the Enable All link to enable all future instances of all alarms for the model.

> Click the Suppress All link to suppress all future instances of all alarms for the model.

§ If all alarms are currently suppressed, you can take either of the following actions in the Alarm Actions column for the model.

> Click the Disable All link to disable all future instances of all alarms for the model.

> Click the Unsuppress All link to unsuppress all future instances of all alarms for the model.

After you take one of these actions, the action name changes to the opposite. For example, if you click Disable All, the action becomes Enable All.

To view and manage alarm definitions individually for a model

1. In the Alarm Actions column for a model, click Manage for the model whose alarm definitions you want to view, modify, and/or delete.

2. Use the View and manage alarm definitions page to view details for alarm definitions for this model, to change the initial disposition of individual alarm definitions, and to modify or delete alarm definitions for this model.

To configure user interface preferences for a model

1. Click Preferences in the UI Configuration column for the model whose user interface preferences you want to configure.

2. Use the UI Preferences page to configure various UI preferences for this model's assets when viewed through the Axeda® Service application.

To configure remote sessions preferences for a model

1. Click Remote Sessions in the UI Configuration column for the model whose remote interface preferences you want to configure.

2. Use the Model Remote Interfaces page to configure applications to use for remote sessions for this model's assets when launched through the Service application.

Tips

o The maximum number of rows supported for returning Platform search results for this type of table is defined in your user preferences, Items Per Page setting (Long table or Short table).

o Use the table navigation tools to view different pages and information in the table.

o Use $image\icon_refresh.gif$ (Refresh link) beside the table navigation tools to refresh the page with the latest Platform results. (Browser Refresh tools do not update the table.)
