Use the pages in the Model wizard to create new models or edit existing ones. This wizard prompts you for the information required to create a model. For existing models, the wizard shows the existing information and properties for that model and permits you to make changes as needed.
Note: Only Administrators
can create models using the Model wizard. See an explanation of the types of users for more information.
BEST PRACTICE: Make sure that all
assets of a model are running homogenous agents. For example, all assets
of a model may be running Axeda Connector and/or Axeda Gateway, or all
assets of a model are running Axeda IDM agents. That way, when selecting
models for actions, users are less likely to create or run an action for
assets whose agents do not support it.
The Model wizard presents the following pages:
o Model Definition - specify number, description, manufacturer, asset group and type for the model
o Model Data Items - specify data items for the model and its assets; you can create new units of measure from this step
o Model TotalAccess Connection Bindings - specify the connection types for a model of assets that are running Axeda® IDM Agents. This step appears only if the TotalAccess pages are enabled by your Platform administrator.
o Model Properties - specify properties for this model and its assets; for example, if the assets of this model are "contactable" (they do not poll but can respond to Shoulder Tap messages), define a property that will store the address for each asset of the model.
o Model Parameters - specify connection properties for assets managed by this model; this page appears only for gateway-managed models
o Missing Assets - specify whether to consider assets of this model as missing, and if so, what criteria causes the Platform to report them as missing
o Model Confirmation - for the configuration properties specified for the model, save the model to the Platform; otherwise, change the properties before saving or cancel the model configuration altogether
