Action wizard - Configure Alarm action

Notes: This action applies to all assets of the model(s) selected in the Models for action page.

Alarm actions (Category: Enterprise actions) enable the Axeda® Platform to write alarm entries into the Platform.

When the rule associated with this Alarm action evaluates to true, the Platform generates an alarm and writes an alarm entry. Alarms generated by the Platform are typically visible in the Asset dashboards of the assets for which the alarm was generated. The Alarms module on the dashboard shows the five most recent alarms, and the Current Alarms page shows all alarms that have not been closed. The Historical Alarms page shows all alarms that have been closed.

Important! If you create an Alarm action for assets that are associated with target assets, keep in mind that an alarm created by this action is NOT forwarded to the target asset. If you want alarms to be forwarded to target assets, use an Expression Rule and, in the Then or Else expression, use the CreateAlarm action. For information about asset associations, refer to Associating assets with one another.

Procedure from this page

From this page, you can create and configure alarm actions.

To configure Alarm actions

1.       Type the name of the alarm for this action, and an optional description. The name is required.

2.       Type the user-defined severity level for this alarm. (This is a numeric value that can range from 0 to 1000 and provides a means for filtering the alarm display and for triggering other functionality.)

3.       Type the type of alarm, such as HiHi or LoLo.

4.       Select the name of the User Group associated with this Alarm action. This value is optional. Users in this user group will be able to see alarms generated by this Alarm action.

5.       For the selected model(s), select the data item for this Alarm action. This value is optional. When the alarm executes, the data item name and value are written with the alarm to the Platform.

6.       If you want the Platform to process a business rule when this Alarm action executes, select Process a trigger for this alarm.

When you are finished, click Next to select the user groups with edit permissions for this action. If you click Finish, the action confirmation page appears. If you click Cancel and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard is removed.

Tips

o        In the Axeda® Service application, Asset dashboard Rules module, you can view and enable or disable the rules configured for a specific asset.

o        The Service application, Asset dashboard Audit log module, shows a log of activity for the selected asset, including registration, actions run, alarms acknowledged, statuses, usage value setting, and more. Also, if you have privileges to the Administration application, you can search the Audit log for asset, Enterprise, and user activity.
