Searching for assets from the Maintenance Home page

Use the search and filtering tools on the Axeda Preventive Maintenance home page to select search criteria for assets whose maintenance information you want to see. The Axeda® Platform will show all information that matches your criteria in the table in the lower part of the page. The table shows only Platform information to which you have privileges. If the Platform has no information for items in your search criteria, the table shows only the name(s) of the selected filter(s); you would need to select another filter for browsing.

The table of search results updates with the information for the assets that match your search criteria. For example, if you select or type the name of an organization, the table displays all the assets associated with that organization. When you use the Asset Group field for the search, the table inserts a column, Asset Group(s), to the immediate right of the Name column. The Asset Group(s) column shows the fully qualified path name for all asset groups to which the related asset is assigned.

By default, the Simple filter tool is available and the Advanced filter tool is hidden when you navigate to the home page of the Maintenance application. Click Advanced to use the additional search criteria; click Close to hide all the filtering tools.

The following table lists the filtering options and what the search returns for a Simple search or an Advanced search; it also provides an example of what you might type for each option in an Advanced search:

Search Results

Status icon for the asset - This status information is NOT the asset condition; rather it refers to the status of the asset with respect to the maintenance item displayed in this table:
- $image\icon_maint_status_red_square.gif$ The Red icon indicates that the assets have passed the Target date or count.
- $image\icon_maint_status_green_square.gif$ The Green icon indicates that the asset has passed Reminder1.
- $image\icon_maint_status_blue_square.gif$ . The Blue icon indicates that the asset has passed Reminder2.
- If no icon appears, the asset is uninitialized and has not satisfied the other conditions.
Name -- Each asset name is a link that takes you to the Maintenance Asset Dashboard for the asset.
Organization - This column displays the name of the organization assigned to the asset in the Platform. Organizations can be entered in the Platform and associated with assets through the Axeda® Configuration application or through the Axeda® Deployment Utility.
Location - This column displays the name of the site where this asset is deployed. Locations are defined in the Platform and associated with assets in the Platform. As with Organizations, Locations can be entered either through the Axeda Configuration application or through the Axeda Deployment Utility.
Maintenance Item - Although assets may have multiple maintenance items, this column displays only one. For assets with multiple maintenance items, this column displays the item that is nearing the Target value; if more than one item is nearing the Target value, the first item is displayed.
Current Count - This column displays the current value of the Counter for the maintenance item. For example, if the Counter represents the odometer of a motor vehicle, this value would be the current reading of the odometer. For example, an odometer might currently read 10,500 miles
Counts to Next Service (Target Count) - This column displays the number of counts remaining before the next service. This number is the difference between the Current Count value and the Target Count of the maintenance item. For example, a maintenance item associated with a motor vehicle might be an oil change, with a Target Count of 12000, meaning that the vehicle is next scheduled for an oil change at 12,000 miles. If the odometer reads 10500 (Current Count), then this column displays 1500 (12000 minus 10500), which is the number of miles before the next oil change.
Days to Next Service - This column displays the number of days until the next service.

"Passed By" Search Results

The Target, Reminder1, and Reminder2 associated with a maintenance item can be defined with both a Count value and a Time (date) value. When performing a search using one of these Passed By options, the Platform first looks at the Count values. If the search fails for the Count values (that is, the Current Value has not passed the Target, Reminder1, or Reminder2 Count values), then the Platform looks at the Time values for Target, Reminder1, and Reminder2. If the Time Current Value fails this search as well, then the asset does not appear in the search results.

The search results show a color indicator that reflects which of the values the Current Value has passed (as long as you searched for the Value that it has passed). For example, if you search for All and the Current Value has passed the Target Value, then the Red indicator is shown.

For example, if you search for the assets that have passed Reminder1, the current value for the asset may have also passed the values configured for Target and Reminder 2 in the maintenance item. If the current value has passed more than one configured value, the color indicator for the asset depends on which of the values (Target, Reminder1, and Reminder2) is highest. For example, suppose an asset has the following Count settings for the maintenance item:

Reminder1: 90
Reminder2: 110

The following table lists four example current values and what happens when you perform a search using Passed By.

111	Target	Blue	The current value has passed the Target, Reminder1, and Reminder2 values. The system displays the color associated with the highest value among Target, Reminder1, and Reminder2. In this example, Reminder2 has the highest value, 110, so the color for Reminder2 appears for the asset.
99	Target	Not displayed	The current value has not passed the Target value, so the asset is not displayed.
99	Reminder1	Green	The current value is greater than Reminder1 only, so the Reminder1 color appears for the asset.
101	Reminder1	Red	The current value is greater than Target and Reminder1 values. The Target value is greater than Reminder1, so the Target color appears for the asset.

Time Search Example

The Current Count Value is 100, and the Current Date is 28 May 2007. When searching with Passed Reminder1, the search does not find any results for the Count values, so it searches the Time values. In this example, the Current Date is greater than the Time value for Reminder1, so the asset is displayed in the search results with the color indicator for Reminder1 (Green).

Tips

Use the table navigation tools to view different pages of information in the table. Use $image\icon_refresh.gif$ (Refresh link) beside the table navigation tools to refresh the page with the latest Platform results. (Do NOT use your browser's Refresh tools.) The maximum number of rows supported for returning database search results for this type of table is defined in your user preferences, Items Per Page setting (Long table).

Region		All assets associated with all regions whose names match the string you typed.	If you type "Pacific*", the search returns all assets whose Region name starts with "Pacific." For example, Pacific Northwest, Pacific South, and so forth.
Serial Number		All assets matching the serial number you typed (if you use a wildcard, the search may return multiple assets)	HD8796342
Asset Group		All assets belonging to all Asset Groups whose names match the string you typed. When you use the Asset Group field for the search, the system inserts a column, called Asset Group(s), to the immediate right of the Name column. The Asset Group(s) column shows the fully qualified path name for all asset groups to which the related asset is assigned.	If you type MidWest*, the search returns all assets whose Asset Group name starts with "MidWest." The Asset Group(s) column appears in the table, with the fully qualified path names of asset groups that include "MidWest." For example, you might see an asset group name of "/Root Asset Group/USA/ MidWestRegion".
System		All assets associated with all Platforms whose names match the string you typed	If you type "HVAC*", the search returns all assets whose system name starts with "HVAC."
Maintenance Item		All assets associated with the maintenance item you selected.	Select one from the list of maintenance items configured in the Platform. The list is limited to maintenance items for those assets to which you have privileges.
Maintenance Target Count		All the assets that have the Asset Maintenance Target Count less than, equal to, or greater than the Target, Reminder1, or Reminder2.	To find all assets whose Target count is 3000, select the equals operator, type 3000, and click Search.
Maintenance Target Date		All the assets that have the Asset Maintenance Target Date less than, equal to, or greater than the specified date.	To find all assets whose target date is today, select the equals operator and then either type or use the Calendar utility ( $image\calendar_icon.gif$ ) to select today's date. Click Search.
