Rule wizard

Use the pages in the Rule wizard to create rules or edit existing ones. This wizard prompts you for the information required to create a rule. For existing rules, the wizard shows the existing information and properties for that rule and permits you to make changes as needed.

The wizard information for a rule is presented as follows:

o        Create rule - specify rule name, description, and type.

o        Models for rule - specify models for the rule.(optional)

o        Scope for rule - view and edit models, asset groups, and assets for the rule.

o        Evaluation condition - condition to evaluate depends on the type of rule you selected to create: Agent Command Status, Alarm, Case, Custom, Data Expression, Event, File Upload, Maintenance Event, Maintenance Item, and Scheduled. (Missing Asset, Register, and Returned Asset conditions require no further configuration).

o        Actions for rule - select the action(s) to execute for this rule.

o        User groups for rule - optional; select the user groups to which access to this rule is restricted.

o        Confirmation - view a summary of the rule definition before saving changes.

Warning! When moving backward and forward through the wizard, use the wizard's Back and Next buttons. Do NOT use your browser's tools back and forward tools.

Rule wizard - Create rule page

1.       Type the new rule name. This is required information. The rule name can be up to 50 alphanumeric characters in length. The rule appears by this name in the Axeda® Connected Product Management Applications.

2.       Type an optional description of the rule.

3.       Select the type of rule. This is required information and specifies what condition in the system causes this rule to execute.

How to modify rule information

You cannot change the condition type. To modify that information, delete the entry and create one.

1.       Type the changes to make to the rule.

2.       Click Finish.

When you are finished, click Next to configure or view the models for this rule or click Finish if you are done modifying the rule. If you click Cancel and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard is removed and the View and manage rules page appears.
