Configure File Upload rule

The Axeda® Platform can evaluate file uploads for business rule conditions. Assets can send files to the Platform based on scripts, business rules, software management-initiated file upload actions, and so forth. Examples of files that may be uploaded to the Platform include current asset configurations (sent as Axeda snapshots), Agent configuration files, or log files needed for troubleshooting problems or diagnosing conditions on the asset.

Each time the Platform receives an upload file request message, it evaluates related File Upload rules for the asset's model to determine which, if any, are true. File Upload rules are defined for specific assets and models, and may or may not include specific "file hint" definitions. The Platform will run the actions configured for any File Upload rules that evaluate to true.

From this page, you can configure or modify a File Upload rule for the selected assets, asset groups, and models.

To create File Upload rules

1.       Type the file hint for this rule. When the Platform receives a File Upload Request for the specified asset(s) and the request contains this file hint, it will execute the actions assigned to this rule.

You can use a wildcard character ("*") to specify multiple hints or a partial file hint name; for example, "hint*" would identify all file hints named "hintA", "hintB", "hint1", and so on.

If you do not specify a hint, the rule will evaluate to true for any file upload request received for the related asset(s), regardless of related file hint.

2.       When you are finished, click Next to configure the actions for the rule, or click Finish if you are done modifying the rule. If you click Cancel and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard is removed and a list of rules appears.
