View Global Access Servers

Note: The Axeda® IDM Agents currently do not communicate with the Axeda Global Access Server. Instead, they use the TotalAccess Server. Refer to Axeda® IDM Agents for a description of the supported features of these agents.

The View Global Access Servers page shows all Global Access Servers managed by this Axeda® Platform, and to which you have privileges. The table shows the following information for each Global Access Server (GAS):

o        Server - name of a Global Access Server.

o        Description - optional; any user-defined description of the Global Access Server.

o        Host - host name or URL for communicating with this Global Access Server.

o        Port - Port number (if any) for communicating with this Global Access Server.

o        Time Zone Offset - the time zone offset defined for this server in the RASConfig.properties file. The Platform selects a Global Access Server in part based on the geographical location of the Global Access Server and the asset. Time zone offsets are used to define geographical locations. The time zone offset is the number of hours that the time zone (where the server is located) is ahead of (+) or behind (-) Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). For example, Pacific Standard Time is 8 hours behind GMT; if the GAS server is in the Pacific Standard Time (PST), this column displays -8:00. For Katmandu (5 hours and 45 minutes ahead of GMT), this column would display +5:45.

o        Active - Identifies the number of active sessions for this GAS; 0 indicates that no sessions are currently active for this GAS.

o        All Sessions - Identifies the number of sessions currently connected to this GAS, active or otherwise.

o        Status - Identifies if this GAS is online or offline.

o        Category - Identifies the type of Global Access Server, Standalone or Hosted.

o        Last Contact - Identifies the last time this GAS communicated with the Platform, based on its own ping rate.

Enabling, Disabling, and Removing Servers

You can disable a Global Access Server while it has active sessions. Disabling the server prevents it from accepting new connections but does not disconnect any active sessions. After a server is disabled (offline) and all active sessions have ended, you can remove it from the network configuration.

You can enable a disabled Global Access Server. New connections can be made only to servers that are enabled (online).

For details on how the Platform selects a GAS server for a remote session, refer to the topic, How the Platform selects a GAS server for a remote session
