The View and manage dynamic groups page displays a list of all dynamic group definitions that currently exist in the Platform. The table shows the following information for each dynamic group definition:
o Name -- the unique identifier assigned to this dynamic group definition. The name is a link to the Edit Dynamic Group wizard, where you can change the description, the properties, or the order of the selected properties.
Note: When viewing dynamic group definitions in a Platform with Delegated Administration enabled, the names of dynamic group definitions may have prefixes; for details, refer to Names of Objects in DA Units.
o Description -- additional information about this dynamic group
o Parent Asset Group -- the name of the asset group in which the hierarchy of asset groups is created when the assets report values for the selected properties. Once you select the Parent Asset Group, you cannot change it, except by deleting the dynamic group and re-creating it.
o Properties -- a listing of the properties whose values will be used to create asset groups, shown in the selected, hierarchical order.
From this page, you can edit or delete existing dynamic groups.
In the table, click the name of the dynamic group that you want to edit. The Edit wizard for dynamic groups starts.
1. In the table, locate the name of the dynamic group that you want to delete.
2. In the last column for that dynamic group, select the check box.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each dynamic group that you want to delete. If you want to delete all dynamic groups, select the check box in the column heading.
4. To remove the selected dynamic groups, click Remove dynamic groups.
5. When
prompted, click OK to confirm
the deletion or Cancel to keep
the dynamic groups.
When dynamic groups are deleted, the asset groups and assignments of assets
to asset groups that they created are NOT deleted. They remain in the
Platform until they are deleted manually.
o For details about provisioning assets for dynamic group definitions, refer to Provisioning Assets with Property Values for Dynamic Group Definitions.
o The maximum number of rows supported for returning Platform search results for this type of table is defined in your user preferences, Items Per Page setting (Long table or Short table).
o Use the table navigation tools to view different pages and information in the table.
o Use (Refresh link) beside the table navigation tools to refresh the page with the latest Platform results. (Browser Refresh tools do not update the table.)
