The Asset Properties step of the Asset wizard shows all the properties configured for the model and enables you to set the values of those properties for this asset. Any text-based string information is supported for the asset properties. (There may be specific values and formatting for those values for your specific asset. You may need to reference the information for your asset if this is the case.)
Notes:
You can configure only values for properties for an asset and then
only if the properties were created already on the model level. Model-level
properties are configured in the Model
Properties page of the Model wizard.
If you are using dynamic groups,
use this page to specify the values for the properties that will set up
the hierarchy of asset groups as specified in the dynamic group definition.
If this device is "contactable" (it does not poll the Axeda
Platform but can respond to Shoulder Tap messages), use this page to specify
the Contact string for the device The Contact string is the address for
the Axeda Codec Server to use when forwarding messages from the Axeda
Platform to the device. .
To be able to use Shoulder Tap for wireless assets that are running an
AWP agent (created using the C-based AWP toolkit), you need to create
a property called "Email" and then, for each asset, assign the
value of the E-mail Id for the asset as the value of this property. For
complete instructions on enabling Shoulder Tap for wireless assets, refer
to the topic, Enabling_Shoulder_Tap_Messaging_for_Wireless_Assets.
Important! Before changing
the values of Asset properties, keep in mind that any changes to the property
values when dynamic groups are in use will cause a change in the Asset
Group to which the asset belongs. If such a change means that the asset
no longer belongs to any Asset Group to which users originally given access
to the asset have privileges, those users will no longer be able to see
the Asset dashboard of the asset in the
Axeda® Service
application.
You can use special characters in a value for a property. However, if you
use a forward slash in a value that will create the name of an Asset Group,
keep in mind that the Platform uses the forward slash as a delimiter in
the fully qualified path of an Asset Group. Therefore, when displaying
the name of a dynamically created asset group, the Platform replaces the
forward slash with a vertical bar or "pipe". The property value
retains the original forward slash.
If Delegated Administration is
enabled for the Platform, the Platform administrator can prevent users
in Delegated Administration Units (DA Units) from making unexpected changes
in Asset Group assignments by changing values for Asset Properties. To
do this, Platform administrators need to set up the privileges for the
DA Unit and the user groups within that DA Unit such that they do not
have the privilege to Modify Asset Property Values in the Axeda Service
application. If user groups in DA Units have any privileges to the Axeda
Configuration application, then the Platform administrator also must make
sure that they cannot modify assets and models.
The table shows the following information for each property:
o Name - actual property for the model; shows No properties for this asset if there are no model properties. You cannot change this name for the individual assets.
o Value - asset-specific value for the corresponding property
In the Value fields, type the values to set for the properties of this asset.
If you have completed configuring or viewing this asset, click Finish and the Asset Confirmation wizard page appears. If you are editing the asset from the Asset dashboard, the Asset dashboard appears.
If you click Cancel
and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard is removed.
Either the list of assets (home
page of the Configuration application) appears, or the Asset dashboard
appears (if you are selected to edit from the Asset dashboard).
o You can edit asset property values from the Properties module in the Asset dashboard (Axeda® Service application) for a selected asset.
o If you have privileges to change the organization information for a specific asset (select the Edit link in the Tasks module on the Asset dashboard in the Axeda® Service application), you can select to edit this information for the selected asset. The Asset wizard - Organization step appears. You can make changes to the information configured for this asset and then save those changes; those changes appear immediately in the Asset dashboard.
o If you have privileges to change the contact information for a specific asset (select the Edit link in the Tasks module on the Asset dashboard in the Service application), you can select to edit this information for an asset. The Asset wizard - Contacts step appears. You can make changes to the information configured for the asset and then save those changes; those changes appear immediately in the Asset dashboard.
