View and modify user group assignments - User wizard page

Notes:
Only Administrators, Delegated Administrators, or non-administrative users with Administration application privileges can view this page and its information. Platform Administrators and primary non-admin users with privileges can see the user groups appropriate to the user. More specifically, if the user account being created or edited is in the primary directory service, then only the user groups in the primary directory service are visible. If the user account was created in a Delegated Admin Unit, then only the user groups for that Delegated Admin Unit are visible in this page.

Delegated Administrators see only those user groups that exist in their Delegated Admin Unit. You must have Administrator privileges to your directory service to modify user properties from the Administration application. Need more information?

The View and modify user group assignments page of the User wizard shows all user groups available for assignment, or currently assigned, to this user. A User Group assignment determines the privileges that users who are assigned to this user group will have to view and use tools and asset information in the Axeda Applications. User and user group assignments are saved to the primary or Delegated Administration directory service, as appropriate (if supported).

Each primary Axeda® Connected Product Management Applications user must be assigned to at least one user group, in addition to the ServiceLinkUsers group in the primary directory service. Each Applications user who belongs to a Delegated Admin Unit must be assigned to at least one user group, in addition to the ServiceLinkUsers group in the Delegated Administration directory service.

Platform Administrators are assigned to all user groups automatically. If this user is an Administrator, you do not need to manage user group assignments: click Finish.

To assign user groups to this user

1.       Do one of the following to assign this user to user groups.

§         In the Available User Groups table, select the check box(es) for all the user groups you want to assign to this user and click Add Checked.

§         To assign all user groups shown in the current page of the table, click the check box in the table header and then click Add Checked.

§         To assign all user groups in the Available User Groups table, click Add All. If there are multiple pages in the table, all user groups from all pages are added.

The Selected User Groups table shows all user groups you added.

2.       Do one of the following to remove user groups from the user:

§         In the Selected User Groups table, select the check box(es) for all the user groups you want to remove from this user and click Remove Checked.

§         To remove all user groups shown in the current page of the table, click the check box in the table header and then click Remove Checked.

§         To remove all user groups in the Selected User Groups table, click Remove All. If there are multiple pages in the table, all user groups from all pages are removed.

The Available User Groups table shows all user groups you removed.

Important! If you remove a user from all user groups to which it is assigned, then the user is removed from the Axeda Applications pages but not from the Platform itself. The Platform will not permit you to recreate a user account with that same name since the account does still exist in the Platform.

3.       When done, click Next to review and save the properties for this user.

Tips

o        Use the Jump to list to view or edit other information for the user group. All Jump to options are described in the Overview for user page. The Jump To options shown depend upon your security access and privileges and upon the directory service support for modifications from the Axeda® Connected Product Management Applications.

o        The maximum number of rows supported for returning Platform search results for this type of table is defined in your user preferences, Items Per Page setting (Long table or Short table).

o        Use the table navigation tools to view different pages and information in the table.

o        Use image\icon_refresh.gif (Refresh link) beside the table navigation tools to refresh the page with the latest Platform results. (Browser Refresh tools do not update the table.)
