Rule wizard - Registration rule page

Each time the Axeda® Platform receives a registration message from an asset, the Platform evaluates all configured and enabled Registration rules for the asset's model.

If there are any Registration rules configured for the model identified in the registration message, the Platform executes the actions associated with those rules.

First Time Registration only

When an agent registers with the Platform for the first time, the agent entry is created in the Platform. You can configure the registration rule so that it solves true only on the very first time an Agent registers in the Platform. Using this configuration, you can ensure that the server evaluates this rule to true and run any associated actions when an asset first registers with the server.

Note that this rule does not evaluate to true each time the asset goes offline and then returns. It runs only when an asset first registers with the Platform.

Procedure from this page

From this page you can configure a new, or modify an existing, Registration rule.

How to configure Registration rules

If you want the Platform to evaluate this rule to true only for newly registering assets (that is, those that are not already defined in the Platform due to a previous registration), then select the check box.

Otherwise, if you leave the check box empty the server will run any actions associated with this rule each time an asset comes online to the server, regardless of whether it is a new registration or not.

When you are finished, click Next to configure the actions for the rule, or click Finish if you are done modifying the rule. If you click Cancel and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard is removed and a list of rules appears.

Tip

In the Service application, Asset dashboard Rules module, you can view and enable or disable the rules configured for a specific asset.
