Execute application actions (Category: Asset update actions) enable the Axeda® Platform to start applications on assets. For example, you can create an action that starts Axeda Desktop Server on an asset when the related rule evaluates to true or when initiated from the Axeda® Service application Asset dashboard for that asset.
1. Type the complete, absolute path and file name of the program to execute on the asset. For example, "C:/Programs/aremote.exe" starts aremote.exe located in C:/Programs. This value is required.
Note: If the assets where this action will be run are controlled by Axeda Policy Server and you want the policy to be enforced for these assets and this action, you MUST type the full path here and in the permission definition. Otherwise, the policy may not be properly enforced.
2. Type any arguments to use when starting the file. These are specific to the application and optional.
3. If the action cannot run while another asynchronous action is running, select Execute asynchronously: if the action can run while other synchronous actions are running, deselect Execute asynchronously. By default, the action is executed synchronously.
4. When you are finished, click Next to select the user groups with edit permissions for this action. If you click Finish, the action confirmation page appears. If you click Cancel and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard is removed.
o In the Axeda® Service application, Asset dashboard Rules module, you can view and enable or disable the rules configured for a specific asset.
o The Service application, Asset dashboard Audit log module, shows a log of activity for the selected asset, including registration, actions run, alarms acknowledged, statuses, usage value setting, and more. Also, if you have privileges to the Administration application, you can search the Audit log for asset, Platform, and user activity.
