View and manage custom objects

The View and manage custom objects page shows all custom objects configured in the Platform, and to which you have privileges. The Custom Objects feature requires a separate license. In addition, you need the appropriate privileges to see and use the tools on this page. If you have a question about your ability to access this page and the custom objects, contact your Platform administrator.

The table shows the following information for each custom object:

o        Name - the unique identifier for the custom object, assigned when the object was created.

o        Description - if defined, additional information about the custom object

o        Type -- the type of custom object, which can be Alarm Rule, Data Rule, Event Rule, Registration Rule, Action, IDM Web Service Extension, or Shoulder Tap.

Notes: In a Platform where Delegated Administration is enabled, the names of custom objects may contain prefixes. For details, refer to Names of Objects in DA Units.

The Axeda Platform SDK always uses the term "device" instead of "asset." In the context of custom objects, these two terms are synonymous. While "asset" is used in the user interface text, "device" is used in code.

The version of Groovy currently supported is 1.8.2.

If the customobjects.log file or the Audit log show exceptions caused by security policy violations ("Groovy Sandbox"), refer to Security Policy for Custom Objects.

Depending on the message (trigger) for a custom object, the global variables that are available to the custom object vary. For information on the global variables available to custom objects and expression rules, refer to Global Variables for Custom Objects.

Tips

o        The maximum number of rows supported for returning Platform search results for this type of table is defined in your user preferences, Items Per Page setting (Long table or Short table).

o        Use the table navigation tools to view different pages and information in the table.

o        Use image\icon_refresh.gif (Refresh link) beside the table navigation tools to refresh the page with the latest Platform results. (Browser Refresh tools do not update the table.)
