Gateway Organization wizard step

In this step, you specify the organization and location of that organization for this Axeda® Gateway asset. You can add a new organization or select an existing organization. If you select an existing organization, you can select from the existing locations associated with that organization or you can create a location. If you add a new organization, you are prompted to also create a location.

Whether you choose an existing organization and location or add new ones, you can select to have the organization and location configured for this gateway also assigned as the default organization and location for all assets managed by this gateway (set through Gateway provisioning).

If you do not see the organization you want, click Create new organization and add the organization and location information for the new organization. If you see the organization but not the location you want, click Create new location and create a location for the organization.

Modifying an organization from Axeda® Service

If you have privileges to change the organization information for a specific asset, you can select to edit this information for the selected asset from its Asset dashboard in the Axeda® Service application. The Gateway wizard - Organization step appears. You can make changes to the information configured for this gateway asset and then save those changes; those changes appear immediately in the Asset dashboard.

To select from existing organizations

1. From the Organization list, select the organization for this gateway asset. This field is required. Once you select an organization, all locations defined for that organization appear in the Location list.

If you need to add a new location to the existing Organization for this gateway asset, click Create a new location, and continue to Step 4 of the procedure below. If you change your mind after the page displays the fields for a new location, click Choose existing location to return to this point.

2. From the Location list, select the location for this gateway asset. The location is required to create a gateway asset. After you select a location, the address associated with it is displayed.

3. If you want to use this organization and location as the defaults for assets managed by this gateway, select the check box next to "Set this organization and location for all managed assets."

IMPORTANT: If the location you select for this gateway includes a language association, then all assets managed by this gateway will inherit that language association. Likewise, if the language for this Gateway is overridden via the Axeda Platform SDK, then all assets managed by this gateway will inherit the language override.

4. If you entered this wizard from the Configuration application, click Next to continue to the Asset Groups page. If you entered this wizard from the Asset dashboard, click Finish to return to the Asset dashboard.

If you click Cancel and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard (or page of the wizard) is removed. Either the list of gateway assets appears, or, if you are editing the organization and location from the Asset dashboard, the Asset dashboard appears.

To create a new organization and location from this page

1. If the organization you want is not shown in the Organization list, click Create new organization.

2. When the page refreshes, type a name in the Organization field. This field is required.

3. In the Description field, type additional information about this organization. This field is optional.

4. Whether you arrive at this step by having added a new organization name and description or by selecting an existing organization and choosing to add a new location, you will now add a new location.

a. From the Region list, select an existing region (optional).

b. In the Location Name field (required), type a name that will uniquely identify the location in the Platform.

c. In the Address line 1 field (required), type the street address for this location.

d. Optionally, type additional address information in the Address line 2 field.

e. In the City field (required), type the name of the city for this location.

f. Optionally, type the State (or province), a postal code (Zip), and the Country for this location.

5. If you want to use this organization and location as the defaults for assets managed by this gateway, select the check box next to "Set this organization and location for all managed assets."

IMPORTANT: If the location you select for this gateway includes a language association, then all assets managed by this gateway will inherit that language association. Likewise, if the language for this Gateway is overridden via the Axeda Platform SDK, then all assets managed by this gateway will inherit the language override.

Note: If the check box is not available, you can try clicking Next to display the Asset Groups page and then clicking Back to return to this page, where the new Location and Organization, as applicable, are displayed. If the check box becomes available, you can select it. If the check box is still unavailable, it is most likely that the parameters that allow Managed Assets to inherit their location and organization from the gateway upon registration have been disabled by your Platform administrator.

6. If you entered this wizard from the Configuration application, click Next to continue to the Asset Groups page. If you entered this wizard from the Asset dashboard, click Finish to return to the Asset dashboard.

If you click Cancel and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard (or page of the wizard) is removed. Either the list of gateway assets appears, or, if you are editing the organization and location from the Asset dashboard, the Asset dashboard appears.

When you are finished configuring or viewing the gateway asset definition, click Next to configure the asset groups in which this gateway asset is defined.

If you are all done configuring or viewing this gateway asset, click Finish and the gateway asset confirmation wizard page appears (or the Service application, if you are editing the asset from the Asset dashboard - Tasks module, Edit link).

If you click Cancel and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard is removed and a list of all gateway assets appears (or the Service application, if you are editing the asset from the Asset dashboard - Tasks module, Edit link).

Tip

If you have privileges to change the contact information for this gateway asset, you can select to edit this information for this gateway asset in the Service Asset dashboard - Tasks module, Edit link. The Gateway wizard - Contacts step appears. You can make changes to the information configured for this gateway asset and then save those changes; those changes appear immediately in the Asset dashboard.
