If the triggers available in the Asset Condition wizard (Configuration application - New menu) do not satisfy your requirements, you can create conditions without triggers and then use the Rules and Actions wizards to set up the triggers and responses that meet your needs. This topic outlines the steps necessary to implement conditions using this "advanced" method. Refer to the topics for the pages of the Asset Condition, Rules, and Actions wizards for more information.
IMPORTANT! If you decide to use this method of configuring conditions, do NOT configure any conditions with built-in triggers.
To configure conditions using multiple wizards
1. Use the Asset Condition wizard to create up to 9 conditions. Assign each condition a Name, Severity, and Image only. Do NOT select any triggers! Click Finish in the first page of the wizard to create a condition.
2. Use the Action wizard, Configure Change asset condition action, to create the following Change asset condition actions:
§ Create a Change asset condition action that sets the condition to Good.
§ For each of your asset conditions, create a Change asset condition action that sets the condition to that condition.
§ For each asset condition, create a Change asset condition action that unsets the condition.
3. Use the Rule wizard to set up the triggers that you want to set and unset the asset condition. Use the Change asset condition actions you just configured with these rules.
In addition to the Platform setting and unsetting conditions created using this method (based on the Rules), users can set or "unset" these conditions manually by running the Change asset condition actions. For example, a user might run the Change asset condition action that sets the condition to Good; this action unsets the current condition and replaces it with the "Good" condition. From the Actions module of the Asset dashboard, users can run these Change asset condition actions as needed.
When a Rule that sets a condition runs, the condition replaces the current condition in the Platform. In addition, the Status field on the Asset dashboard and the Status column on other pages where the asset is listed all show the condition set by the action. The previous current condition is unset and removed from the Status fields in the applications.
When a rule that unsets a condition runs, the condition is unset (removed from the Platform). In addition, the Platform updates the Status field on the Asset dashboard and the Status column to show the condition with the highest severity (if other conditions are currently set for the asset). If no other condition is set, the condition is set to Good.
Note: The popup window for the Status field on the Asset dashboard shows only those conditions that have a lower severity than the current condition. If a Change asset condition action forces a condition with a lower severity than the current condition, that formerly "current" condition is not visible in the popup window.
