The Axeda Snapshot Viewer shows the content of snapshots (XML documents) created by scripts running on assets. These files may or may not be named "snapshot.xml", but they will be defined with a type of snapshot, as shown in the Axeda® Connected Product Management Applications list of uploaded snapshot files.
The Snapshot Viewer appears when you select to view a snapshot that was uploaded to the server. Uploaded snapshot files are shown in the Axeda® Service application, Asset dashboard Uploaded Files module, and in the Axeda® Software Management Files From Assets page.
Note: The Snapshot Viewer
can only display snapshot XML files created according to the snapshot.dtd.
This DTD is installed on the server. If you attempt to open a file that
is not created according the snapshot.dtd, a message similar to the following
appears:
The
file is an invalid Snapshot file.
Please verify the script to makes sure a properly formatted Snapshot file
is created.
At the top of the window, the following information is shown:
o Model - model number of the asset; this can be inserted into the script from the Axeda® Agent running the script (if the script uses known substitution parameters for Agents)
o Asset - serial number of the asset; this can be inserted into the script from the Agent running the script (if the script uses known substitution parameters for Agents)
o Time - date and time the snapshot was created, are shown Viewer window.
Below that are filter tools for filtering the contents of the file shown in the Snapshot Viewer.
The actual contents of the file appear below the filter tools, in the snapshot explorer view and snapshot details view panes. The information shown depends on any filters applied to the view as well as the current selection.
In addition, below the snapshot details view is another pane (snapshot detail attributes view) that can show any attributes defined for the selected element, such as a URL (which, if clicked, will open in a new browser window), minimum or maximum values for selected element, and type of units for the selected element.
Note: The Snapshot Viewer window session will time out if you have not used it for a period of time (20 minutes is the default set in the server properties). If a Snapshot Viewer session times out, you will need to log back in to the Axeda Applications and then reselect any filters you want for viewing the snapshot file.
To run a comparison of two snapshots for an asset, navigate to the Asset dashboard for the asset, and in the Uploaded Files module click the File Comparison link.
