Rule Tags definition

Rule Tags are backups of actions and rules configured in the Platform. Rule tagging functionality enables you to take a "snapshot" of Axeda® Connected Product Management Applications rules and actions at a specific time and then restore those rules and actions at a later time as needed.

A rule tag contains the current Platform rules and actions tables. For example, a rule tag created now will contain all the actions and rules currently defined in the Platform, including the following:

o        All rules configured in the Platform, as shown in the Configuration application, Rules page.

o        For each rule, the associations to user groups, assets, asset groups, and models

o        Assignments and configured parameters for each rule

o        Edit and execute permissions for each rule

o        Actions associated with each rule, as shown in the Configuration application, Actions page.

o        Edit and execute permissions for each rule's action

o        Type(s) of action(s) configured for the rule

o        Models associated with the rule's actions

Rule Tagging functionality provides support for creating new rule tags, deleting existing rule tags, and rolling back the rule and action database tables to a timeframe of a rule tag.

Rule tags are created and saved using the Platform's timestamp. If you want to roll back the rules and actions to those captured by a rule tag, you would select that rule tag based on its timestamp or user-defined description. When you roll back a rule tag, the Platform creates a new tag automatically (to capture the current rules and actions) and then restores the rules and actions defined by the rule tag.
