Extending Maintenance Targets

The Extend Target window allows you to extend the Target (Count) value for a maintenance item. As an example, a motor vehicle is scheduled for service every 2000 miles or 30 days (the Count and Time Intervals). The current odometer of the vehicle reads 6500 miles (the current value of the Counter); the current date is May 10, 2007. The vehicle is currently due for maintenance at 7000 miles (the current value of the Target Count), on May 15, 2007 (the Target Date). For whatever reasons, you want to extend the service date. To do this, you can extend the Target Count or Target Date. You could change the Target Count to 8000. Alternatively, you could extend the Target Date to June 15, 2007.

Note: Keep in mind that extending a Target is a one-time action and does NOT affect the existing values for intervals or targets (for the next service).

To extend maintenance targets:

  1. From the Maintenance home page, search for the asset whose targets you want to extend.

  2. In the search results table, click the name of the asset to display its Maintenance Asset dashboard.

  3. In the Table of Maintenance Items, locate the line containing the Maintenance Item for which you want to extend the Target Count or Target Date.

  4. From the Actions column, select Extend.

  5. In the Extend Target window, you can change the Target Value (Count), Target Date, or both:

  1. Click OK to extend the Target (Count) value, Target Date, or both. Alternatively, click Cancel to close the window without saving your change.

  2. To verify your changes, check the Audit Log below the table of maintenance items. For an Extend event, the Audit Log includes the following details:
