Asset wizard - Asset Gateway Parameters step

Notes: This step applies to Axeda® Gateway-managed assets only; skip this step if this asset is not managed by Axeda Gateway.

In addition, if the Axeda® Platform is running in redundant-gateways mode, this page does not appear. You must first associate the managed asset with an asset that is running Axeda Gateway before you can assign values to Gateway properties for the asset. To add the managed asset to an asset running Axeda Gateway, complete the steps of this Asset wizard. Then, select Gateways on the View menu. In the View and manage Gateways page, click the Configure link for the Gateway asset to which you want to add the asset.

The Asset Gateway Parameters step of the Asset wizard shows the gateway configuration parameters for this asset. The gateway parameters are configured for the model and may be overwritten for this asset. When this asset comes online to the Platform, parameters are passed to the asset. The properties are set in the asset and it begins communications with the related Gateway.

The table shows the following information for each parameter:

o        Name - actual parameter string to deploy on the asset

o        Type - data type for the parameter string's contents, either String or numeric

o        Deployed Value - actual parameters deployed to the asset; a value appears here only if the asset has already come online to the Platform and sent its deployed parameters string. If the asset was deployed with the model-level gateway parameters, this value matches that shown in the Name column. If the asset has connected with different gateway parameters, those parameters are shown.

o        Modified Value - a parameter string that overrides the model-set gateway parameters or unique parameters already deployed to the asset.

In this page you can change the gateway parameters for this asset.

How to override gateway parameters for this asset

1.       In the table under Modified Value type the parameter values you want to pass to the asset.  Any modified values you type must match the corresponding data type shown.

When this asset next contacts the Platform, the modified values are passed: the asset will use these values to connect with the related gateway asset.

2.       After configuring or viewing the gateway parameters, click Next to configure the asset properties for this asset.

3.       If you have completed configuring or viewing this asset, click Finish and the Asset Confirmation wizard page appears. If you are editing the asset from the Asset dashboard, the Asset dashboard appears.

If you click Cancel and continue canceling, all information configured in this wizard is removed. Either the list of assets (home page of the Configuration application) appears, or the Asset dashboard appears (if you are selected to edit from the Asset dashboard).
