Manage assets for <asset_group

Shows all assets configured in the Axeda® Platform and assigned to the asset group selected in the View and manage asset groups page. All user groups assigned to this asset group can view data from all assets configured in this asset group. From this page you can add assets to and remove assets from the selected asset group.

Notes:

Adding or removing an asset from an asset group through this page is considered "MANUALLY" adding the asset to the group or manually removing the asset from the group. The Platform treats manual additions and removals differently from automatic additions or removals through the execution of dynamic group definitions.

To understand the difference for removing assets from asset groups, consider the following scenarios:

Suppose you manually added an asset to this asset group; when you remove the asset from the asset group, it is no longer a member of the asset group. For it to be a member of the group again you can manually assign it to the group again or you can set the asset up so that it is added by a dynamic group definition.

Now suppose you manually remove an asset from an asset group to which it was assigned by the execution of a dynamic group definition. Afterwards, you do not make any changes that would result in the asset NOT being assigned to this asset group the next time the dynamic group definition is run. When that dynamic group definition runs again, the asset will be assigned to this asset group. For an asset that was dynamically assigned to an asset group to be removed permanently from that asset group, you need to change either the values of the properties that created the asset group or the dynamic group definition itself.

From this page, you can filter the list of unassigned assets shown, based on selected search criteria, and manually add or remove asset(s) for the selected asset group:

How to filter the list of unassigned assets

1. Click Filter to show the filter boxes if they are not already shown. (When you first open this page, all standard filter boxes are shown.)

2. To view all unassigned assets to which you have privileges, click Filter without typing any search values. To narrow your search, do the following.

§ In the box above the Name column, type all or part of the name of the asset(s) you want to include in the search.

§ In the box above the Region column, select the region to include in the search.

§ In the box above the Location column, select the location to include in the search.

3. Click Filter. The Platform finds all assets that contain the search value(s) defined and shows only those assets in the Unassigned Assets list.

To narrow your search further:

4. With the filter boxes still displayed, click Advanced to show the advanced filter boxes.

5. Select the advanced search criteria as follows:

a. In the Serial Number box, type all or part the serial number of the asset you want to find.

b. In the System box, select the system of the asset(s) you want to find.

c. Select the Gateway Only check box to limit the search to Gateway assets only.

d. In the Company box, type all or part of the name of the company associated with the asset.

e. In the City box, type all or part of the name of the city where the asset is located.

f. In the State box, type all or part of the name of the state where the asset is located.

6. Click Filter.

How to add and remove asset(s) for this asset group

1. Do one of the following to add assets to the asset group:

§ In the Unassigned Assets table, select the check box(es) for all the assets you want to add to this asset group and click Add Checked.

§ To add all assets shown in the current page of the table, click the check box in the table header and then click Add Checked.

§ To add all assets in the Unassigned Assets table, click Add All. If there are multiple pages in the table, all assets from all pages are added.

2. Do one of the following to remove assets from the asset group:

§ In the Asset group table, select the check box(es) for all the assets you want to remove from this asset group and click Remove checked.

§ To add remove all assets shown in the current page of the table, click the check box in the table header and then click Remove checked.

§ To remove all assets from the Asset Group table, click Remove all. If there are multiple pages in the table, all assets from all pages are removed.

The Unassigned Assets table shows all assets you removed.

When you are finished adding or removing assets for this asset group, click Save Changes below the tables. If you want to cancel any changes made to this page without saving, click Cancel. The View and manage asset groups page appears.

Tips

o The maximum number of rows supported for returning Platform search results for this type of table is defined in your user preferences, Items Per Page setting (Long table or Short table).

o Use the table navigation tools to view different pages and information in the table.

o Use $image\icon_refresh.gif$ (Refresh link) beside the table navigation tools to refresh the page with the latest Platform results. (Browser Refresh tools do not update the table.)
