Change Notification Styles

The settings in this page define how the Platform will inform you of notifications and alerts. You can specify the following ways for the server to notify you of alerts:

o        E-mail - The Platform will send an e-mail to each of the e-mail addresses you specify here. If you want the notifications to be sent to multiple addresses, separate each address with a semicolon. Make sure you type valid e-mail addresses in the correct format for e-mail addresses; for example, name@company.com.

o        Pager - The Platform will send an e-mail to each of the pager addresses you specify here. If you want the notifications to be sent to multiple addresses, separate each address with a semicolon. Make sure you type valid e-mail addresses in the correct format for e-mail addresses; for example, name@company.com. Note that only pagers that accept e-mails are supported.

o        Web Alert tones - The Platform will play the tones selected in this page for the related notification severity level. (If you do not select a tone, the Platform will not generate a tone for alerts of the related severity level.)

You can select the tones to play for the different severity levels. Until an alert is acknowledged, the corresponding tone will play when the Platform first generates the alert and then each time you log into the Applications.

In addition, the Platform will always show your alerts in the Axeda® Connected Product Management Applications. For example, when the Platform has sent a new notification to you, the menu at the top right corner of each Application page indicates that the Platform has generated a new alert for you:

Select the New Alerts link to view, acknowledge, or delete alerts. You configure the tones the Platform will use to notify you of the various alert levels.

Web Interface

The Platform will play the tones selected in this page for the related notification severity level. (Note that the notification severity level is determined by the severity level of the related alarm.) For example, if a notification of severity level High is generated for the user, the tone for that notification severity level is played. You can select the tones to play for the different severity levels.

For example, if you select the check box for the High alert, the Platform will play the High tone (when the alert is first generated and then each time you log into the Applications) until you have acknowledged all High alerts.

Procedures from this page

From this page, you select how the Platform notifies you of alerts, and how and which tones the Platform plays for your alerts.

To configure the manner in which the server notifies you of alerts

1.       If you want the Platform to send e-mail messages when notifications are sent to you, select the E-mail check box and type the e-mail address(es) to which you want the Platform to send the e-mail messages. Make sure you type valid e-mail addresses.

2.       If you want the Platform to send e-mail messages to your pager when notifications are sent to you, select the Pager check box and type the pager e-mail address(es) to which you want the Platform to send the e-mail messages. Make sure you type valid e-mail addresses and that your pager supports e-mails.

3.       Select the check boxes for each tone you want played for each alert level. Do not select the check boxes for any alert levels for which you do not want to play tones.

4.       For each alert level you select, you can select the tone the Platform will play for that level from the corresponding drop-down list. If you want to select a tone that is not shown in this list, you can contact your Platform administrator to have that tone added to the Platform.

5.       If you want to play a tone to test it out, click Test for that tone.

6.       When you are finished making changes, click Submit. The Platform will save your preferences and apply the configuration immediately, when the Platform generates the next notification.
