Axeda Transport - Import

From this dialog box you can import updates from the Axeda® Agent running on the asset to the Axeda® Platform.

To import a file from the laptop used to access the Transport page:

1.       In the Transport - Browse for Assets page, click image\icon_transport_import.gif.

2.       In the Import dialog box, click Browse to locate and select the file to import.

After you click Browse, a dialog box appears, from which you select the update file on your computer (a tar.gz file that contains all the Agent-generated files, which are defined with .idrm file name extensions). The dialog box depends on the platform from which you are running the application.

3.       Click Import to start the action. To exit this page without importing a file, click Cancel.

After you click Import, the Platform checks the history of imports to determine if it has already imported this file. If the file has been imported, you will see a message explaining the situation; click OK to acknowledge the message and continue. If the file has not been imported, the Platform retrieves the selected file from your computer and places it in the import file root directory (as defined by your Platform administrator), in a subdirectory named for the import session. At this time, the server generates an audit message for the import. This audit message is visible in the Asset dashboard.

After the tar.gz file is imported, the Axeda® Platform extracts all the .idrm files and processes each file from oldest to most recent. At this point the server deletes the tar.gz file. Each idrm file is decrypted and its eMessage contents searched for data item values, alarms, events, and so on for the Platform.

After processing all .idrm files, the Platform deletes them.

Notes: Axeda® Transport requires that the source and destination assets be running an Axeda® Agent. It does not work with tracking assets that monitor mobile assets (for example, an Edge device).

Axeda Transport does NOT support large file uploads. You can transfer files up to 2 GB in size using Axeda Transport. For larger files, use Axeda Software Management packages or the Download File from Enterprise action.
