Set global, model, organization, and asset targets

Shows the target values set for the related usage item. A target value refers to the change in value for a specific data item during a specified interval. The Platform supports creation of four types of target levels: global, model, organization, and asset. These levels correspond to a hierarchy of precedence and, with the exception of global targets, all levels are optional for a usage item.

You can set target values for usage item values. Later you can run reports or analytics searched against these comparisons and target levels.

From this page, you can create or edit global, model, organization, or asset level targets for the selected usage item. Click the title of a procedure to display it; click the title again to hide the procedure:

To create a Global Usage Target

1. In the Interval box, select the type of interval (or magnitude) to apply to the minimum, maximum, and expected target levels. This interval will apply to all target levels you create for this usage item (including global, model, organization, and asset).
For example, if you selected monthly, then the minimum, maximum, and expected targets are calculated monthly for the usage item (globally, for any asset for which this usage item is configured), and for the usage item within the bounds of any specified model, organization, or asset target levels, if configured.

Note: This interval defines the minimum, maximum, and expected values for any target values set for the related usage item. If a Daily interval is set and a Organization Target level configured, then usage value levels for each asset at that organization are calculated on a per day interval.

2. In the Minimum box, type the minimum value for the related usage item based on the selected interval. For example, for a monthly interval, this value may be at least 1000 (counts).

3. In the Maximum box, type the maximum value for the related usage item based on the selected interval. For example, for a monthly interval, this value may be at the most 3000 (counts).

4. In the Expected box, type the expected value for the related usage item based on the selected interval. For example, for a monthly interval, this value is expected to be 2000 (counts).

To create a Model, Organization, or Asset Usage Target

After creating a global usage target for the related usage item, you can apply other target levels to override those set in the global target levels. For example, you may want to create a model target level for a model that consistently posts a higher expected value than other models that perform the same Axeda® Connected Product Management Applications functionality.

1. In the Configuration tab heading, click the button for the type of target to create, either Set Model Target, Set Organization Target, or Set Asset Target, as follows:

a. Model Target - target level settings will apply to all assets of specified model

b. Organization Target - target level settings will apply to all assets of a specified organization (on a per-asset basis; not a combined total for all assets of that organization)

c. Asset Target - target level settings will apply to a specific asset

2. In the Minimum box, type the minimum value for the related usage item based on the interval specified in the global target setting. The value shown is that set by the global target; you can overwrite this value for this type of target.

3. In the Maximum box, type the minimum value for the related usage item based on the interval specified in the global target setting. The value shown is that set by the global target; you can overwrite this value for this type of target.

4. In the Expected box, type the expected value for the related usage item based on the interval specified in the global target setting. The value shown is that set by the global target; you can overwrite this value for this type of target.

Tip

To return to the usage item creation or modification page from the target creation page, click the Configuration tab heading and then click the name of the usage item in the list of available usage items.
