Axeda Service Application privileges

The following table lists all the privileges associated with the Axeda® Service application and explains what granting the privilege enables the user to do and what element (s) of the user interface is (are) affected by the privilege. If other privileges are required for any activity in addition to the one described, they are listed under "Other Requirements or Considerations."

Note that users need the Service - View privilege for any of the other privileges to work. Otherwise, they cannot even see the Service tab when they log in. Some of the privileges listed here also control access to a related feature in the Axeda® Configuration application. For example, the Contact - Add privilege applies to both the Configuration and Service applications.

For privileges for scripting, refer to the Scripting Privileges table. Scripting privileges overlap the Service and Configuration applications.

For Web services privileges, refer to Web Services privileges.

This Privilege	Allows users to
Contact - Add	Add contacts in Configuration application and Service application. This privilege controls display of the following functionality: Configuration application - the Contacts option on the New menu. Service application - the Edit link in the "Contacts" page that is available from an Asset dashboard, Other Requirements or Considerations Configuration - View privilege Configuration - Asset - Modify Service - View privilege Service - Asset Dashboard In the Service application, users need both the Contact - Add and the Contact - Modify privilege to be able to access the Contact - Add functionality.
Contact - Modify	Modify contacts from the Configuration application or the Service application, as well as delete contacts from the Configuration application. This privilege controls display of the following functionality: Configuration application - the ability to select a contact from the "View and Manage contacts" page to view and modify its configuration, or delete it. Service application - the ability to select the Edit link from the "Contacts" page that is available from an Asset dashboard. Other Requirements or Considerations Configuration - View privilege Configuration - Asset - Modify Service - View privilege Service - Asset Dashboard To be able to add additional contacts, the user also needs the Contact - Add privilege.
Files - Delete	Delete files from the Service application. This privilege controls the display of the Delete Files link in the "Uploaded Files" page for an asset. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege Service - Asset Files - View privilege
Service - Actions List	View the Actions list containing the actions that can be run on assets (Home page of the Service application). Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Alarm List - View	View the Assets with Alarms module (Home page of the Service application). Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset - Dashboard	View the Asset dashboard in the Service application. Note: When a user is assigned to a case, the Platform provides that user with access to the Service application Asset dashboard. This privilege does NOT need to be provided manually to that user. However, if a non-admin user does not have this privilege (and the Service - View privilege), then all managed assets shown in the Managed Assets module of the Asset dashboard will be shown simply as labels rather than as links to the Asset dashboard. This privilege controls the following functionality: In the Home page of the Service application, controls the ability to select an asset to view its dashboard. In Service application, controls display of navigation path used to access the Asset dashboard. In Jump To lists, controls the ability to select Asset dashboard. Service - Asset Actions - View	View the Actions and Recent Actions modules (Asset dashboard) and corresponding "Actions" and "Recent Actions" pages, and Actions and Recent Actions items in the Jump To list. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset Alarms - View	View the Alarms module (Asset dashboard) and corresponding alarm pages, and Alarms item in the Jump To list. View alarms on the Charts module (Asset dashboard). Without this privilege, Alarms will not be plotted on charts. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset Audit Log - View	View the Audit Log module (Asset dashboard) and corresponding audit log pages, and Audit Log item in the Jump To list. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset Charts and Displays - View	View the Charts and Displays modules (Asset dashboard) and corresponding chart and display pages. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege Configuration - Alarms - View (needed if the chart or display contains an alarm)
Service - Asset Data - Add	Add data values for data items on the Asset dashboard, and through Web Services or Axeda SDK. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - Asset Data Module - View (needed to execute the Enterprise UI Action Data Entry Action if the action is of type Write to Enterprise Server) Either this privilege or the privilege Service - Asset Data Module - View is required to execute the Asset Update Action Set a data item on an asset.
Service - Asset Data - View	View data such as mobile locations in the Asset dashboard. Controls access to data items and mobile locations through Web services or Axeda SDK. For Web services users, this privilege is required if you are using the Mobile Location Service to retrieve the current mobile location for an asset or the historical mobile locations for an asset. In addition, this privilege is required if you are uisng the Data Service to retrieve current and/or historical data. Service - Asset Data Module - View	View the Data module (Asset dashboard) and corresponding "Current Data Item Values" and "Historical Data Item Values" pages, and the Current Data and Historical Data items in the Jump To list. Also allows users to control the retrieval of data (data items and mobile locations) through Web services and Axeda SDK. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege Service - Asset Data - Add (needed to execute the Enterprise UI Action Data Entry Action if the action is of type Write to Enterprise Server) Either this privilege or the privilege Service - Asset Data – Add is required to execute the Asset Update Action Set a data item on an asset.
Service - Asset Backup Agent - View	View information about the Backup Agent running on an asset and switch between the Primary Agent and the Backup Agent on the Asset dashboard. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset Deployed Packages - View	View the Deployed Packages module (Asset dashboard) and corresponding deployed packages pages, and Deployed Packages item in the Jump To list. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset Events - View	View the Events module (Asset dashboard) and corresponding "Events" pages, and Events item in the Jump To list. View events on the Charts module (Asset dashboard). Service - Asset File Comparison	Compare snapshot and text files uploaded to the Platform (displayed in the Uploaded Files module in the Asset dashboard). Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege Service - Asset Files - View

Service - Asset GAS Assignments - Manage	View and change the Global Access Server(s) through which a remote session can be established with the asset whose dashboard is currently displayed. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset Information - View	View the Location module in the Asset dashboard. Without this privilege, the user can see only the following asset information: serial number, model, status, registration, last contact, ping rate, and time zone. Service - Asset Maintenance Items - View	View the Maintenance Items module (Asset dashboard) and corresponding Maintenance Items page, and Maintenance item in the Jump To list. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset Muting	Required to enable a user to mute/unmute an asset. Users without this privilege can see whether or not an asset is muted, but can not turn muting on or off. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege Configuration - View privilege
Service - Asset Property Values - Modify	Modify the property values shown in the Properties module (Asset dashboard). Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset Property Values - View	View the Properties module (Asset dashboard) and corresponding "Properties" page, and Properties item in the Jump To list. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset Remote Sessions - View	View the Remote Sessions module (Asset dashboard) and corresponding remote session pages, and Remote Session item in the Jump To list. This privilege also controls the availability of the "Remote Sessions" link in the View and manage models page of the Configuration application. To set up Quick Launch for the assets of a model, users need this privilege AND the privilege, Configuration - Models - Modify. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset Rules - View	View the Rules module (Asset dashboard) and corresponding rules pages, and Rules item in the Jump To list. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Asset Scripts - View	View the Scripts module (Asset dashboard) and corresponding script pages, and Scripts or Available Scripts items in the Jump To list. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Execute Actions	Run actions from the Service application. This privilege controls the ability to select actions to run from the Actions module and from the "Actions" page, and tasks from the Tasks module. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege Service - Asset Actions - View privilege Note: Without this privilege, users can see actions in the module but cannot execute them. Without this privilege, users also cannot see any new tasks in Tasks module.
Service - Export Asset Data	Export asset data from the Service application. This privilege controls the display of the Data Export menu in the Service application. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Extended UI Module - View	View any Extended UI Modules configured for the Platform. If this privilege is applied, the user group will be able to see all Extended UI Modules configured for all models to which that user group has permission. Service - Manage Rule	Manage, modify, create, delete, or enable rules in the Configuration application or Service application, as applicable. This privilege controls the following functionality: Service application -- controls display of Enabled check box and the override data expression functionality in the "Details for the selected rule" page. Configuration application -- controls display of the Rule item in the New menu, the ability to select a rule to modify, delete, enable, or disable in the "Rules" page. Service - Note - Add	Create notes in the Service application. This privilege controls the display of the Add link in the Notes module on the Asset dashboard of the Service application. Service - Notes - Delete	Delete notes in the Service application. This privilege controls the display of the Delete link in the Notes module on the Asset dashboard of the Service application. Service - Status List - View	View the Status of the asset in the Home page of the Service application or Asset dashboard. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - Transport - Export	Select to export server commands and information. This privilege controls the display of the Export button in the "Transport - Browse for Assets" page of the Service application. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege Service - Transport - View
Service - Transport - Import	Select to import asset updates to the Enterprise Server. This privilege controls the display of the Import button in the "Transport - Browse for Assets" page of the Service application. Service - Transport - View	View the assets that require an Export and to which you have permissions, and then select to export server information or import asset information. This privilege controls display of the Transport menu in the Service application. Other Requirements or Considerations Service - View privilege
Service - View	View the Service application. This privilege controls the display of the Service tab. Note: When a user is assigned to a case, the Axeda® Platform provides that user with access to the Asset dashboard of the Service application. This privilege does NOT need to be provided manually to that user. However, if a non-admin user does not have this privilege and the privilege to view managed assets, then all managed assets shown in the Managed Assets module on the Asset dashboard for an asset running Axeda Gateway will be shown simply as labels rather than as links to the Asset dashboards of the managed assets.
