The Remote Application Bridge (a Java program) enables remote sessions through the Axeda® Platform. When you choose to run a desktop session, the Platform starts the Application Bridge applet automatically. If presented with a prompt whether to allow the applet to run, answer Yes to continue to start the remote session.
Notes: As of the
Summer '11, Upgrade 2, release, the Application Bridge supports a range
of port numbers for Remote Application sessions that require a range of
ports (for example, an application that uses dynamic ports). ALL of the
ports in the range must be available for the application on the asset
for the remote session to succeed. If any of the ports are in use by another
application, the Application Bridge ends the session.
If you use the <$HOST> variable in the Model
Remote Interface definition and want to use a range of ports for a
Remote Application type of session, make sure that you have cleared the
Java Plug-in cache. Refer to the topic, Clearing
the Java_Plug-in_Cache.
1. Start
Java and the Application Bridge from a command prompt by typing the following
information in the format shown below:
java -jar AppBridge.jar
-host=<EnterpriseServer>
-ssid=xxxx
where:
<EnterpriseServer>
is the host name or IP address of your Platform.
xxxx is the session
ID created by the Platform (as shown in the popup message).
2. Press Enter at the command prompt. The Application Bridge displays the designated port on your computer for communications.
3. At
the command prompt, type the port number returned from the Application
Bridge and the name of the Application Bridge host (for example, "localhost"
or an actual IP address), and press Enter.
The connection request is queued until the next time the asset contacts
the Platform. At that time, the connection is complete and the Platform
is now actively connected to the selected application.
To close this session, you need to close the Application Bridge from the Remote Session window.
It is recommended that you do not manually stop the Application Bridge from the command prompt.
