Running and Monitoring a Package

Axeda® Agents run deployed packages according to the schedule specified in the Deployment wizard. You can select to execute a package immediately or at a later time. The agent reads the package to determine when to execute a package as soon as it receives it. If the time is later, the Agent places the package in a queue. If the time is missing (which means immediate) or earlier than the current system time, the Agent runs the package immediately.

To monitor the status of packages, you can use the Software Management application's Package Deployment Manager page, which presents a list of packages and their status. The actions you can take on a deployed package include the following operations:

o        Cancel - Stops the evaluation of auto (perpetual) deployments, and removes asset deployments that have not yet been sent to the agent for both auto (perpetual) and manual deployments. Cancel does not remove asset deployments if messages for the deployments have been generated for the agent, even if the agent has not yet picked these messages up from the Platform (In other words, the messages have been sent to the agent but the agent has not come online yet or the messages are still in the queue, waiting for the agent to receive them). If the message has not yet been sent to the agent, then the message is removed and the status of the package goes to Canceled immediately.

o        Purge - Removes the package from the list of deployed packages. A deployment can only be purged when all of the assets for that deployment have reached a final state (for example, completed, cancelled, timed-out, etc.).

The Package Deployment Manager page also lets you view the assets to which a package has been deployed, and redeploy or cancel the package on selected assets or all eligible assets.

You can also use the Package Manager to review the details of a package and to edit, copy, or delete a package.
