Package Wizard - Instructions

Use this page to define what actions you want the Axeda Agent to perform while running the package on the asset. A package must have at least one instruction. The following table lists the types of Axeda Agents and the instructions available for them:.

Unless you specify otherwise, the Axeda Gateway and Axeda Connector Agents execute the instructions synchronously. For details about creating an IDM SoftwareDirector package to update the software for your IDM Agents, refer to Guidelines for Creating IDM SoftwareDirector Packages.

From this page, you can add, remove, and change the order of the instructions for the Agent. Click the title of a procedure to display it; click the title again to hide it.

To define instructions

From the list, select an instruction. This list contains standard instructions (that is, they are supplied as part of the application), named instruction sets that you have defined in the application, and components that you have added to the application.
Depending on the type of instruction, you may need to configure additional parameters.
If you selected an instruction that launches a new page, click Next (or Cancel) in that page to return to the Step 3 Instructions page.

Click Add. The instruction appears in the display in the lower portion of the page.

Specify the timeout value (number of seconds) for any data item dependencies listed (Wait for Conditions instruction), and click Add.
Click Next to specify any rollback instructions for this package, or Finish if you are finished configuring this package. (Finish displays the Package confirmation page.)

To reorder the list of instructions

Click the $image\userprefs_uppointer.gif$ to move an instruction up one position in the list of instructions.

OR

Click the $image\userprefs_downpointer.gif$ to move an instruction down one position in the list of instructions
Repeat step 1 until the list of instructions is in the correct order. The package will execute the instructions in order, starting at the top of the list.
Click Next to specify any rollback instructions for this package, or Finish if you are finished configuring this package. (Finish displays the Package confirmation page.)

To delete instructions

From the list of defined instructions in the lower part of the window, select the check box for the instruction you want to delete.
Click Remove Checked. You will need to recreate the instruction, if necessary.
Click Next to specify any rollback instructions for this package, or Finish if you are finished configuring this package. (Finish displays the Package confirmation page.)

Notes: To change the parameters of an instruction that you have added, you must first select the check box for the instruction in the list, and then click Remove Checked. Then, you must add the instruction again.

If you created Wait for Conditions data item dependency, you need to specify the timeout value (number of seconds) for the defined data item dependencies conditions. This timeout is the length of time that the Agent should wait for the set of conditions to be fulfilled before the package times out.
