Asset dashboard - Asset Connectivity module

The Asset Connectivity module is available on the Asset dashboards of managed assets only if the Axeda Platform is running in redundant-gateways mode. This module shows a list of the Gateways that manage this asset. Note that this module is NOT available on the Asset dashboards of the Gateway assets.

This module shows the connectivity status between a managed asset and each of its managing Gateways and between each managing Gateway and the Platform. The module contains a row for each managing Gateway and two columns: one column shows the status of the connection between the asset and the Gateway and the other column shows the status of the connection between the Gateway and the Platform. The names of the Gateway assets are links that take you to the Asset dashboards of those managing Gateways. This module always shows all connections (and therefore does not have a View all link).

To show the connectivity status for both connection types, the table uses the two standard connectivity icons with different tool tips to reflect the two connection types:

image\icon_notmissingdevice.gif "Connected" (Gateway to Platform) or "Online" (managed asset to Gateway)

image\icon_missingdevice.gif "Disconnected" (Gateway to Platform) "Offline" (managed asset to Gateway)

When the connection between the managed asset and a Gateway asset is lost, the connectivity status for that connection is "Offline," as shown in the tool tip. When the connection between a Gateway asset and the Platform is lost, the Gateway asset itself is considered "Missing," which is shown in the tool tip as "Disconnected." When all connections between the Gateway assets and the Axeda Platform are lost, the managed asset and the Gateway assets are considered "Missing." The home page of the Axeda® Service application will show the Missing icon for the managed asset and the Gateway assets. However, the managed-asset-to-Gateway connections in the Asset Connectivity module show the last state known to the Platform at the time that the Gateway assets' connections to the Platform were lost. If the managed asset was "Online" when the Gateway connections were lost, the connectivity status remains "Online" (and vice versa).

Note: The Connected statues is not relevant when an asset is muted, as the Platform is not actively communicating with the asset. When an asset is unmuted, the Platform will correctly identify whether that asset is online, offline, or missing, as indicated with the related icons.

The following table shows the complete set of possible connectivity statuses, the icons and content of their tool tips, and how the names of the managed asset and managing Gateways appear in the Asset Connectivity module:
