Asset condition wizard - Assign alarms to asset condition

While creating or editing asset conditions, you can associate an alarm with the condition. When the alarm that matches the criteria you specify in this page is received, the Axeda® Platform automatically sets the condition in the Platform. If the condition currently displayed for the asset is Good (or a severity lower than that of this condition), the Platform also displays this condition in the Status fields for the asset. When you view the asset information from the Asset dashboard, for example, you will see this condition. You can select one or more alarms for this condition. Whenever an alarm that meets the configured alarm name and/or severity is received, the Platform takes the appropriate action for the condition.

If you configure multiple alarms for this condition, all alarms must be acknowledged, set inactive, or no longer in the severity range for the Platform to unset the condition automatically. As long as a single alarm is the only trigger configured for the condition, the Platform can automatically unset this condition once the configured alarm is acknowledged, set inactive, or no longer in the configured severity range.

Warning! When moving backward and forward through the wizard, use the wizard's Back and Next buttons. Do NOT use your browser's back and forward tools.

How to set up an alarm message for an asset condition:

1.       In the Assign alarms to Asset Condition page, select the check box for the alarm criteria you want to use:

§         Alarm name is equal to - Select this check box to use a specific alarm or multiple alarms that have similar names.

§         Alarm severity is - Select this check box to use a specific alarm severity or a range of alarm severities for this condition.

You must select at least one of these check boxes.

2.       If you selected Alarm name, type the name of the alarm you want to associate with this condition. To select multiple alarms whose names begin with "over", type over*, where the asterisk (*) is a wildcard character that will include all alarms whose names start with "over".

3.       If you selected Alarm severity, select between or not between from the list. Then type the range of severity values to associate with this condition, with the lower bound in the first text box and the upper bound in the second text box. Be sure that the lower bound is less than the upper bound in the severity range. You will see an error message if the lower bound is less than the upper bound.

4.       Click Add to add the alarm(s) to the asset condition.

5.       If you are modifying an existing asset condition and want to remove alarms from the table, select the check box for the alarm in the rightmost column of the table, and then click Remove Checked.

6.       When ready, click Next to continue adding or modifying the asset condition. To exit the wizard without saving any information, click Cancel.

If you selected to associate data expressions with the asset condition, the next step is to assign data expressions to the asset condition. Otherwise, the next step is to review the condition changes.
