Apply this expression rule to models and assets

The Apply to models and assets page allows you to select the models and assets to which you want the expression rule to apply. For assets, you can specify assets to include and exclude. You can also choose to apply a rule to all assets in the Platform (the default setting). For example, if an asset is going to be serviced but will still be connected to the Axeda® Platformfor testing, you may want to exclude that asset from the rule processing temporarily.

Note: Selecting models and assets with associations for an expression rule does not mean that data generated by the expression rule will be forwarded to associated models/assets. Only data that is produced by an Agent is forwarded to target assets. Any data that is generated by an expression rule is NOT forwarded to target assets.

To apply an expression rule to all assets in the Platform

By default an expression rule applies to all assets unless you apply it to specific models and assets. If you apply a rule to specific models and later decide to apply the rule to all assets in the Platform, follow these steps:

1.       Select the option, Apply this rule to all assets in the system in this page. The list of Models is dimmed when you select this option.

2.       Click Save to save the change.

To apply an expression rule to specific models

1.       If it is not already selected, select the option button next to the  Models tab.

2.       Click the Search icon (image\icon_search_for_models_edit_associations.gif) to display a list of models to which you have access.

3.       From the list of Models, select the names of one or more models to which you want to apply the rule, or click the "select all" check box (the check box in the header of the check box column).

Note: Clicking the "select all" check box does not select all relevant models in the Platform. A maximum of 25 model entries are loaded on each search, so selecting this check box only selects 25 models. If you need to select more models, after clicking Add to move the selected models to the "All assets of these models" list (see the next step), click the search icon again. The list will be reloaded with 25 models that have not yet been added to the "All assets of these models" list.

4.       Click Add to move the model names to the list under All assets of these models.

5.       If desired, include or exclude specific assets for the selected model(s). Refer to the next procedure for details.

6.       Click Save to save the selections.
