Supported Objects for Delegated Administration

Designating another non-Platform administrator to administer users, user groups, and asset groups is supported, but it requires adherence to the best practices. Refer to the Delegated Administration Best Practices Guide for guidance on creating and managing Delegated Admin groups and object visibility.

Visibility restrictions and privileges are fully supported for the following objects:

o        Users

o        User Groups

o        Assets

o        Asset Groups

Unsupported Objects for Delegated Administration

Axeda Platform provides other objects for which visibility restrictions and privileges are not fully supported, and therefore not guaranteed to work with Delegated Admin groups. For example, this means that although you may create and assign expression rules or models to a Delegated Admin group, if there are other Delegated Admin groups defined in the Platform, users in those groups may actually have access to those objects.

Also note that unsupported objects are also not supported at the Platform level, which means that system settings, licensing, and logging may yield unwanted results with these objects. For example, logging information for models assigned to a specific Delegated Admin group may show up in the Audit Log for other Delegated Admin groups.

Axeda recommends that you keep this behavior in mind when creating and assigning these unsupported objects to Delegated Admin groups:

o        Models

o        Rules

o        Actions

o        Dynamic Groups

o        Custom Objects

o        Expression Rules

o        Regions

o        Organizations

o        Locations

o        Contacts
