Package Instructions: Upload File to Axeda Platform

Available for: All Axeda Agents, with differences in the way uploads are supported

Note: AWP Agents and Axeda IDM Agents support two types of package instructions: downloading files to the agent and uploading files from the agent. Axeda Agent Embedded supports file uploads and file downloads; they also support the Restart instruction. These Agents ignore any other instructions defined in a package.

For Agent Embedded, make sure that the file specification does NOT include wildcards. The built-in file uploader of Agent Embedded does not support wildcards.

That said, if the package is an IDM SoftwareDirector package, then the Execute instruction is required to perform the software update for the IDM Agent. For details about creating an IDM SoftwareDirector package to update the software for your IDM Agents, refer to Guidelines for Creating IDM SoftwareDirector Packages.

After you select the instruction, Upload File to Enterprise, the Package Instructions page displays a link to a new page, Create Upload Instruction Entry List. Follow this link to display the Upload Instruction page, where you specify the following parameters for the instruction:

1.       File Specification - Specify the path to and the names of the file(s) to upload. Refer to the notes for your Agent:

Axeda Gateway, Connector, and Agent Embedded Agents
Axeda IDM Agents
AWP Agents

2.       Do not apply compression before uploading (this setting may be overridden based on file size). Refer to the notes for your Agent:

Axeda Gateway, Connector, and Agent Embedded Agents
Axeda IDM Agents
AWP Agents

3.       Path is relative to asset's home directory.
Refer to the notes for your Agent:

Axeda Gateway, Connector, and Agent Embedded Agents
Axeda IDM Agents
AWP Agents

4.       Delete from asset after successful upload.

You can use this option with all Axeda Agents.

After specifying the file information, click Add. The information appears in the table in the lower part of the page. As long as you do not disable compression, you can specify additional files.

When ready, click Next to return to the main Instructions page.
