The following table lists the types of users in a Platform configured for Delegated Administration and describes their access to Packages.
When creating SM packages, users can select the User Groups that will be able to view, edit, and deploy them. If a Principal user creates a package and selects one or more user groups that exist in one or more DA Units (other than the Root), the users who belong to the user groups in the DA Units can view, edit, and deploy those packages.

Principal Axeda® Connected Product Management Applications Administrator |
Access to ALL packages in the Platform. When selecting models for packages, access to all models in the Platform. When selecting user groups for editing and deploying a package, all user groups in the Platform. |
Non administrator with correct privileges |
In the Software Management application, with appropriate privileges, user can view, create, modify, and delete packages. However, the models available when selecting models for a package depend on the assignment of asset groups to user groups. If the logged in user does not have access to a certain model, the model is not available to select for the package. In addition, when selecting user groups, this user can see all user groups in the Platform. |
1st level DA (DA1) 2nd level DA (DA11) Another DA user within same DA as DA1 |
DA users can access the packages they or other users in their DA Unit create. If DA users belong to a user group selected for editing and deploying packages by a Principal user or a non-Admin user who has appropriate privileges, those DA users can edit and deploy those packages. When creating a package, DA users can see only those user groups in their DA Unit or in a child DA Unit of their unit. Similarly, they can select only those models that are assigned to asset groups that are assigned to their user groups. Users in DA Units that are at the same level cannot see the user groups of other DA Units at their level. For example, DA1 and DA2 are sibling DA Units. DA1 users cannot see the user groups or packages of DA2. Once packages have been created, users in a parent DA Unit can see packages created by users in their child (and grand-child and so on) DA Units. If the package contains a file upload instruction, the file is visible on the Asset dashboard to any user who has access to the asset. |
