As part of configuring a model identified as a gateway, you can specify a set of parameters to send to all assets that will use that gateway model to connect to the Axeda® Platform. These parameters help provision the Axeda® Gateway model for deployment and should specify how the connected assets need to communicate with this gateway model. When the gateway model locates a new asset to manage, it can automatically send these parameters to that asset: the asset will apply this information to come online to the gateway model. At that point, the gateway can start managing the asset.
In the model definition wizard, you configure the parameters as a comma-separated string of values. Each segment of the string is a meaningful parameter to set on the asset. The actual parameter string is asset and model specific, and may include the baud rate, COM Port, IP address of the gateway, file path, and so forth.
Model parameters can contain data in String or Numeric format. As part of creating the parameter string to pass to the assets, you can specify the data type for the contents as String or numeric.
