Within Axeda® Connected Product Management Applications, the term "Provisioning" describes the ability to configure a Gateway model with "information" that will be sent automatically to its assets when those assets register with the Platform. The information is intended to help set up the asset for connections and communications with its managing Gateway. Provisioning information that may be sent to registering assets can include organization and location settings, defined contacts, network communications settings, and configured scripts.
Sending provisioning information to a managed asset each time that asset registers or sends a provisioning message to the Axeda® Platform ensures the assets managed by that gateway are in sync with the Platform information.
o Gateway configuration wizard - Gateway Organization page - "Set this organization and location for all managed assets"
o Gateway configuration wizard - Gateway Contacts page - "Set these contacts for all managed assets"
o Gateway configuration wizard - Gateway Properties page - values set for gateway properties are sent to managed assets upon provisioning
o Model wizard - Model Parameters step - values set for model are sent to all assets of this gateway managed model type upon provisioning. These parameters and values are specific to the gateway model asset and can include model number, serial number, IP address, and COM port number.
Note: It is important to note that any Gateway provisioning settings configured through the Platform override any Gateway managed asset values previously set by the Axeda® Deployment Utility.
