A deployment in the Axeda® Software Management application is a process for making a package available for an Axeda Agent to run on an asset. The Package Deployment wizard enables you to choose an automatic or manual deployment. If you choose manual, then you also select which assets should receive the package and set the schedule for the deployment. If you choose automatic, then the Platform evaluates which assets the package should be deployed to at the scheduled deployment time (at the date and time you specify for deployment, it checks which assets are online) and then deploys the package to those assets. For both types of deployments, you select the people to notify concerning the status of the deployment.
For immediate deployment, you can either create a deployment using the Software Management application or create a new Package Action for an asset. You can then use the action from the Asset dashboard (Axeda® Service application). To schedule a deployment at a particular date and time, you must use the Deployment wizard of the Software Management application.
