Data Item Groups definition

Data Item groups provide a way to manage data item privileges. Users are permitted access to data items configured in data item groups based on the user groups in which they are defined. If a user group is not yet associated with any specific data item group, all users in that group can access all data items for those assets to which they have access.

Important! If you assign a data item group to a user group, all users in that user group will be able to see only those data items.

Data item groups can contain data items from one or more assets for a single model type.

Given this security model, a single user can have access to selected data items from multiple assets, of multiple model types.

Note to Platform Administrators: Data Item Groups are restricted to the Delegated Administration Unit (DA Unit) in which they are created. For more information on object security in DA Units, refer to Security for Objects in Delegated Administration Units.

For information about security for Data Item Groups, refer to Security for Objects in Axeda Axeda® Connected Product Management Applications and for information about security for these objects when Delegated Administration is enabled, refer to Security for Objects in Delegated Administration Units.

Tips

o        Make sure you define all data items in the data item groups for which users in the associated user group(s) need to see.

o        Make sure you define all data items for that user group in the assigned data item group(s) OR assign no data item groups to the user group so that the users in that group will be able to access all data items for those assets that can access.
