The Axeda Service application provides tools and views that enable you to monitor your assets and systems, proactively avert problems, identify missing assets, track user and asset activity, diagnose conditions, and fix problems on remote assets and systems.
Note: For this release, only some of the capabilities of the Axeda® IDM Agents are supported in the Axeda Service application. Refer to Axeda® IDM Agents for a description of the supported features.

The Axeda Service Application Home page provides you with tools for searching for assets in the Platform to which you have privileges. From this page, you can run actions on multiple assets, view a summary of all assets and systems whose statuses have changed recently, or that you have recently accessed (and, therefore, may want to access again).
The Browse for assets tools enable you to locate assets to find those that you need to update or troubleshoot, or for which you want to view more information. You can use the Browse for assets tree to narrow your search for an asset by known associations. For example, if you don't know the name of an asset but do know that it is part of RegionX and located in Location3, you can filter the assets to show assets by Region, then by Location. In addition, you can use the Filters in this page to quickly locate specific assets whose properties you may know, such as associated model, organization, or gateway information. You can also filter searches to include only those assets with a specific data item or package, or that are muted.
You can click the name of any asset in the Home Page of the Axeda Service Application to view information specific to that asset in its Asset dashboard. The information displayed in the Asset dashboard includes: the current ping rate, last contact date and time, time zone for the asset, serial number, model, and asset groups related to the asset, when the asset registered, whether or not the asset is muted, and the version of the agent running on the asset. It also includes the location of the asset, any notes entered about the asset, and contacts defined for the asset. The Asset dashboard makes any actions configured in the system available to run on the asset. It displays the scripts and remote sessions configured for the asset. It also shows the most recent alarms, a log of recent actions, uploaded files for the asset, and so forth.
If you do not see the information you need and expect for the asset, click View all or Current from the displayed module or select the corresponding option in the Jump to list to view all the items for the module category. For example, if you want to see all current alarms for an asset, select Current from the Alarms module or select Current Alarms from the Jump to list. The Current Alarms page displays a list of all alarms that are Started, Acknowledged, or Escalated for the related asset.
The modules that appear for an asset are customizable by model in the Configuration application, as are the tasks, data items, charts, and displays shown.
If you have displayed a details page, such as the Current Alarms page, you can view other information for the asset by using the navigation path. All entries in the path are links to related pages. For example, if you are viewing all alarms of assetA and want to view all events of assetA, click the assetA link: the Asset dashboard for assetA appears, from which you can select to view all events. Alternatively, you can select Events from the Jump to list to view all events for assetA.
Similarly, if you want to view more assets for the organization shown in the navigation path, click the organization name: the Axeda Service Application Home page will appear and you can locate additional assets for that organization.
The Asset dashboard shows all pertinent, current information for an asset in the modules. The modules also provide access to historical information for the asset. You can use this information to track trends in asset data, determine what servicing has been performed on the asset, and perform actions on the asset to fix or avert problems. For example, you can review uploaded log files (Uploaded Files module) or see any historical alarms on the asset (Alarms module). If a log file appears incorrect, for example, you could start a remote session (if available for the asset) to that asset to diagnose and troubleshoot any problems.
View menu items shows assets by specified conditions: those with alarms, those with changed statuses, those in your watch list, and those missing. The Actions link displays a list of actions, which enables you to run an action on multiple assets at once. For example, you can set the ping rate or synchronize the time on multiple assets at the same time. The Data Export menu contains tools for exporting data from the Platform. The Transport link displays the Browse for Assets page of Axeda® Transport, where you can search for and select an asset that is usually offline during normal operation and then export files to or import files from a laptop that is used to service that asset.
Only the assets and tools to which you have privileges (based on your user group assignment) appear for selection and use. This is true of all applications. In fact, if you do not see the Axeda Service application itself, you may not have privileges. Contact your Platform administrator if you think there is a problem.
